Influenza A (H1N1 Virus): Things To Know & To Do

The Department of Health is on full alert as the pandemic Influenza A (H1N1 Virus) has now inflicted close to 200 Filipinos.

As many of us know, one case was traced in our very hometown, Licab, but recent news have it that the patient is already cured from the flu.

However, the town of Jaen in our province is also closely being monitored, as Health Officials have declared a community outbreak when many students in Hilera Elementary School tested positive from the flu.

So, really, it is best for us to know what to do about this infamous pandemic Influenza virus.

The United Nations and the World Health Organization recently issued a Handbook about the Pandemic A (H1N1) Virus for the public to be aware about the virus and how to avoid it.

As an extra precaution, it is best that we follow personal hygiene to reduce the risk of contracting influenza.

1. Wash hands frequently.

2. Take vitamins.

3. Get enough rest/sleep.

4. Cover the nose and mouth with the sleeve/tissue/handkerchief when coughing or sneezing.
